I wonder if there is a better way to cook rice.
Have you ever thought this way?
- I cook it in a rice cooker, but the taste is not good.
- I want to eat more delicious rice.
- I wonder if there is a better way to cook rice.
These can be solved by cooking in a saucepan.
It's been about four years since I started cooking rice in a saucepan, but rice tastes better than cooking in a rice cooker.
My family also likes it.
Rather than buying expensive rice or a rice cooker, cook delicious rice with a saucepan to increase your satisfaction.
* Note that if you want to keep the rice warm, use a rice cooker. If you cannot eat rice in a day, move the rice from the saucepan to the rice cooker, keep it warm, and eat it whenever you like.
Benefits of cooking rice in a saucepan
- Rice tastes more delicious
- It takes a shorter time to cook (40 minutes)
Disadvantages of cooking rice in a saucepan
- Extra washing for the saucepan
- If you cook for too long, the bottom of the pan will burn and it will be difficult to wash away
When you cook the rice with a rice cooker, it usually takes about 20 to 40 minutes for quick mode and about 50 to 60 minutes for normal mode.
If you cook in a saucepan, it will be ready to eat in 25 minutes + steamed for 40 minutes.
It's the same as a quick mode in a rice cooker.
I don't know how many people cook in a quick mode, but I cook mostly in normal mode, so it feels faster to cook in a saucepan.
As for the rice cooker I used before, I used it at a higher price because I thought the higher the price, the more delicious rice I could eat.
However, after all, rice cooked with gas tastes sweet, mellow, and more delicious.
Recommended saucepan
I'm using a vision glass saucepan.
It's a beautiful amber color and raises me up.🆙。
I recommend it because you can see the ingredients inside while cooking, so it's interesting to see and easy to find the charring.
With a capacity of 2.5L, you can cook 4 go (a cup measuring about 150 grams or 180mL). I have the impression that 5 go is a little too much.
Please note that it is easy to break because it is glass.
Reasons for not using clay saucepans
Some people may think that if you cook rice in a saucepan, it would be a clay saucepan, so I would like to touch on why I didn't use a clay saucepan.
I don't have a clay saucepan, so I can't compare it, but if you have a clay saucepan at home, you can cook delicious rice with a clay saucepan.
The saucepan here ↓ looks good, so I was considering buying it.
You say that rice cooked in a clay saucepan is delicious.
This is the reason why I didn't buy a clay saucepan.
- I already had a glass saucepan, so it will take a lot of space if I buy a saucepan for rice.
- Hario's saucepan is for rice only, so I didn't know if it could be used for other dishes.
Vision's glass saucepan can be used for cooking such as curry and stew, but Hario's saucepan has a unique shape, so I thought it was only for rice.
I think it's good for people like below.
- People who want a saucepan for rice because it doesn't have to be used for other dishes
- People who cook rice every day
How to cook rice in a saucepan
It’s the same way as cooking with a rice cooker until the middle.
1. Wash rice.
2. Put the washed rice in the kettle and add water as usual. If you do not use a kettle, add 1.2 times as much water as rice. The amount of water needed is about 200 ml per 1 go of the rice.
3. Transfer the water and rice to the saucepan.
4. Gently shake the saucepan so that the rice is flat.
5. Put the lid on. Put on low heat.
If there is a timer, set it to 25 minutes. If you don't have one, use the kitchen timer or the alarm function of your smartphone to measure the time so that you don't forget to turn off the fire in 25 minutes.
6. Turn off the heat and let it steam for 15 minutes.
↑ The lid that came with the saucepan has broken, so I'm using another lid instead.
7.!It's done!
If you want to keep it warm, move it to a rice cooker. Sometimes there is slightly burnt rice on the bottom.
↓The black part in the picture below is the burnt rice.
That is it.
Isn't it easier than you think?
If you keep the heat low, you don't have to worry about the heat, and if you put it on the fire and set the timer to 25 minutes, you can leave it alone.
